This week I have been working a bit on the crew that occupy the head of Fenrir. The original imperial crew got some green stuff grows to make them look a bit more chaosy. You really have to give up some personal comforts to become a chaos titan pilot, like the ability to leave the cockpit. Well, now I just have to finish the rest of the head and blend them into the rest of the cockpit.

Saint Mina
Short update today with Saint Mina. Not much to say about this model, black robes and red roses. The lack of variety in the paint scheme makes them rather fast to paint but in the end they will look great. I do not want the saints to be to much of a distraction from the bier and the cherubs which will be the center of the model. Well, onlt one more saint...

Adapter plug for Warlord shoulder weapons on a Reavers.
As some of my longtime readers might remember, I was playing around with 3D printing some time back when I had access to a borrowed printer. I have been thinking about getting my self my own printer but have felt that that might take to much away from the hobby. Luckily I still have friends that have 3D printers so I did a quick CAD model of what I thought the plug should look like and called in a favor. A week or two later it has arrived. So I tried it on Fenrir and it worked as a charm directly, almost to well for a first try. Then I thought, lets try it with Joluns Modh and Varangians weapons, in this way I can see how it look painted before I finish Fenrir. But then I realized I had made a mistake with Varangians weapon-mounts that I for some reason did not fix at the time. I had glued on a metal washer on top of the mounting peg, making it to long for the mounting holes in the shoulders. Instead of removing the metal disk I had decided to just use green stuff and fill it out so that it could fit any way. This modification did however mean that I could not mount them with the plug as it was made tighter then the shoulder seats. To make a long story short I had to sort this first. Once I had pealed back the GS and slowly carved away the epoxy (probably why I did not remove them directly) I had used I could do some test fittings.
In the end I sort of like the look, The Warlord laser blaster is massive and look a bit to big on Joluns Modh at this angel. But with similar weapon arms I think it will look rather good. Also Fenrirs longer head will help matching the sizes (I hope). Any way, I am happy with how well it turned out. I do however not think the missile launcher looks that good. But some of the other shoulder weapons that exist for AT should look really good on there.

Fenrir head WIP
For the last couple of weeks I have been working on Fenrir's head. A build that was supposed to be a quick more or less standard Reaver build has turned into a sculpting nightmare. My initial idea was to put most effort into the armor plating and some nice chaos effects. But then I thought, wait a minute, the chaos Reaver has these chaos weby growth on the insides, so lets make some on the super structure beneath the armor, it will make it more chaosy. Well that escalated quite quickly as can be seen on the underside of the head. Now I am working on the knees, shoulders and wrists to make the same effect.. and sadly to the same amount so that it fits. This will take time and slow the build.
The webs are made out of two to five layers of green stuff sculpted one layer at a time at one location. I have learned not to work on multiple locations with GS as it is to easy to ruin what has been done with a finger. I think the webs give the titan a more organic look, and I will try to paint them to look like inflamed skin and sinews...

The Easter Executioner
The model is really cool with the long robe and the inlaid bone parts. I decided to just paint it as is with out any modifications. For the armor I went with my crimson metallic that I have on the Raptors and the Dark Apostle. I really like how this color looks from a bit of, but up close it could have some more depth. I will have to work on it. The robes were painted in my customary brown leather look. The bone parts were originally left in white metallic after the base painting of the armor. I though it looked rather good with them as "sculpted" metal pieces I was not sure if that was the look I was going for and after consulting with the Wife I decided to go for a more classic bone color. The executioner ax got the power blade treatment that I have used for my dark angels, custodes and raptors, i.e. a dark (black) blade with a distinct colored glow, in this case a purple. The painting process was quite straight forward as I could do it with the body fully assembled, only leaving the had and the backpack separate.
All in all it was a nice model to paint, especially as it was a surprise present. It also kept me from going out into the garden working, which I should not do as I have a sore through and a minor head ache. Normally this would not have stooped me but in these times it is better to be safe than sorry.

Saint Dominica
The forth of the saint in Triumph of Saint Katherine, saint Dominica is the bearer of the Ebon Chalice. The model as such is not that highly detailed so it was a fairly quick paint job. I am not sure if I shall try to get some of the edges of the robes painted scarlet or something to bring in more color. But that will have to wait until I have all of the saints done so that I can do them together and get a cohesive look to them. Next up is Saint Mina...
